Worked absolutely perfect!!! Only took about a minute to heat up the aluminum on my 10 foot job boat at the hole and the fluxless rod melted/penetrated right into the hole wonderfully…Thank You So Much!!!

I fixed holes in the bottom of a boat with the product. I learned about this product from the Aluminum-Weld youtube channel. I do some soldering on copper pipe and welding at basic level. This product worked great. I did cover the welds with an epoxy filler just so it would look nice after painting. Someone who is better at brazing/welding/grinding will probably be able to get a smooth surface just with the rods. The boat is a family heirloom. I am glad to get it back in the water and fish with my kids.

This was my first attempt at a prop repair. After watching two short YouTube videos, these are my before and after photos. The entire process was quite easy to do. I used a 4 inch grinder with 60 and 280 grit paper. I highly recommend this rod and will be ordering more.

THESE ARE AWESOME.

The order of the brazing rods came pretty quick with in a week of purchasing them online and usually take couple of weeks living here in alaska. I purchased after looking online from one of the posts and wanted to try them out. Living here in alaska we use the riveted aluminum lund boats all summer long and on 3 rivets that had a little crack on the boat sure helped a lot! No more leaks and will be purchasing more in the future when i need them!

I bought the product primarily to repair the bottom of an aluminum boat and it performed exactly as promised. No complaints! But before doing that, however, as a test, I tried joining two 1/8 inch plates together perpendicularly (following the printed instructions) and was disappointed when they broke apart will very little effort. I called the 800 number, explained what I’d done (and how) and got some tips on how to improve the “weld”. I followed the advice and got a far superior result, so technique has a lot to do with it. The fact that the product works and that they are there to help has me sold on the product and the company.

I had a 5 mm hole on the bottom of my aluminum boat. I used an aluminum pop rivet to close the hole and then applied the aluminum rod while using a propane torch. Excellent job in welding the pop rivet to the boat.
Michael Ball (verified owner) –
I was going to use the rods to repair an aluminum pontoon. Unfortunately I could not get the plug out. If I heated the pontoon and sealed the hole, the pontoon would have imploded as it cooled.
I will use the rods another day on another project.

There is a little learning curve, but I made a good repair to a small hole in the bottom of my aluminum Jon boat. Smoothed it out with a dremel and painted it. Seems like a strong weld.
Anonymous (store manager) –
Here’s a picture of the welding I did inside my 1986 Smoker craft boat with your welding rods.
Thanks for your help getting this job done.

Needed to repair a few cracks in aluminum boat, product did great. Had good instructions in package and videos online.
LAURENCE STAPLES (verified owner) –
Great product. Much better than sticking a rivet in a hole.
David K. (verified owner) –
Love this stuff. Ok so I am the dumbass who took their boat out on the river when it was too low. Finding a prop that matches can be difficult. I tinned the back side first, this is a must! I also used Oxy / Acetylene with a number 4 rosebud. It got hot enough in seconds. Be careful with the heat, aluminum will melt away in seconds if you hold the torch in one place too long.
As you can see in the pictures this rod filled 2 large chunks and a crack on another blade. I only used 2 1/2 rods. Great stuff!

This stuff is great! I used it to repair a leaky galvanized funnel (see photo), and it works wonderfully on aluminum (although I am not yet able to braze aluminum cans, gotta get better at heat control for those).
Cody (verified owner) –
Great product with great customer service!
Anonymous (verified owner) –
Really impressed with how fast the order arrived. This is exactly what I wanted and it was helpful to have the recommended guidance of the videos to make sure it was applied correctly.
Steve D. (verified owner) –
Worked as stated. Delivered on time. Would have been nice to get some extra rod for the price.
Greg Allen (verified owner) –
An expensive perfect work liked advertised all fixed ready for the lake
Larry (verified owner) –
I started out using a propane torch. I thought I was getting my pontoon hot enough because it was melting the rod. I could not get my hole patched. I finally switched to map gas and within seconds I got my hole patched. I was nervous using map gas but I did it anyway. I live on a lake with all my neighbors having pontoon boats. I’m going to order more rods just in case of an emergency.

Worked great! on patching up a hole
on my canoe. I am sure glad I did not use JB weld. I been down that road before.
Maureen B. (verified owner) –
We used the brazing rods to solder a whole in a seam in a pontoon on our boat. Two weeks in the water and the patch is holding. The entire experience has been very good; from ordering to receiving and the actual product.

John B. (verified owner) –
Had a 1/8″ hole in my aluminum canoe. Couldn’t get it hot enough with my propane torch, so after watching a youtube video I used map gas and it worked great. Seems like a strong permanent patch.

I had to fix four 4-6 in cracks on the bottom of my jonboat. The material is excellent but there is a learning curve. Even with the experience of working with my hands and with with a variety of materials, it took a little time to learn and get used to it. There are some points to keep in mind and that can come in handy:
1) 25 rods may be enough for a job as the one I described as long as you have some previous experience with using this; otherwise, do yourself a favor and order at least 50 from the get go, so that you avoid having to wait for the arrival of a second shipment
2) it is worth having the working area level and avoid working upside down. Since the heat rises, it will be harder to control it on the surface of the metal and is more likely to cause warping of the aluminum. Although the rods can be used upside down and vertically, the heat and flow of the material as much harder to control
3) in order for the rod alloy to stick to the aluminum, they both need reach a certain temperature. Melted rod material, will NOT stick to aluminum if the aluminum is not hot enough
4) cracks can happen to the added rod alloy due to expansion and contraction. This is easily fixed by incorporating new material. When adding new material the temperature will not need to be as high since you are only melting rod alloy to patch it on top of existing rod alloy. Also, a thicker layer of rod alloy definitely helps prevent cracking as the material cools.
5) the alloy oxidizes fast, turning dull grey within a few hours. If you need to add another layer after a longer interval, you will need to prep the area again remove the oxide.

Pontoon log repair. Reinforced some previous welds that were showing signs of minor leakage. Fortunately, It was in a non-pressurized center toon cavity and I was able to access the weld from inside/above to put gravity on my side. Worked great, took a while to heat, but once the proper temp was reached i was very successful. Not sure could have done from below looking up! Thank you.
